Some notes from a previous trip to the Natural HIstory Museum.

Can we do this again?” Twenty minutes after we left the Natural History Museum in London, the question came up first. And it was not the only time. Happy (and tired) faces all around in Victoria Station after an eventful, long and exciting day. Twenty-one students, two Learning Advisors and a few parents had embarked on the trip, with dinosaurs and gemstones in mind, expectations of 35m-long blue whale skeletons hanging off the ceiling, lunar stones and forty-two shades of diamonds on display. It was lovely to see the excitement in the young people’s eyes, the pleasure to have the freedom to explore the vast museum as they liked, the astonishment that all of this is interesting, that there is too much to see and take in and that – of course – we will have to come back for another visit.

A trip not only for the scientifically interested, but also a wonderful bonding experience of the OPLC community, with the older students looking after the younger ones, caring and supporting each other, a great day out in this breath-taking, world-class museum.
